Indiana remains No. 1 with win over The Heels

December 10, 2012

Sophomore Center Cody Zeller led the Hoosiers to a huge 83-59 victory tuesday night, because of 20 points, 8 Rebounds, and 4 blocks.  Victor Oladipo and Will Sheehey both had 19 points each, which put the Hoosiers over the edge to a point of no return for North Carolina.

“I know people criticize us for our defense, and they say ‘If they can’t play defense, how good can they really be?’ ” Oladipo said.

The Tarheels shot particularly poor, shooting only 37 percent from the field, and 42 percent from the free throw line.  The Hoosiers, on the other hand, lit up the scoreboard with 83 points and shooting 47 percent from the field.

The Hoosiers quieted all doubters with their huge rout of The Tarheels, silencing those who believed Duke was the outright Number One team in the land.

“It was a huge statement,” Sheehey said. “We prepared for this game for a couple of weeks now. You saw the score, we played hard, we played well, we played together and when we do that, we play well.”

This victory marked number seven on the season for the Hoosiers.  They’re looking for their eighth win this Saturday vs. The Eagles of Coppin State.
